The Afterword: A Conversation About the Future of Words

Mar 2, 2019

Some people say we are living in the "Golden Age of Board Games." The sale of board games in the U.S. grew 28% from 2016-2017. While games are fun and engaging, they also offer an opportunity to empower the mind.

This episode centers on our conversation with James R. Hannibal, an award-winning author of the Section 13 mysteries and a game designer, along with Connie and Dan Kazmaier, designers of the immersive board game "Chai."

Teachers, parents, and story-lovers of all ages can learn how games get created, what storylines emerge, and why board games are a great way to teach literary lessons. As Dan Kazmaier explained, the board game culture has an inclusive phrase. "You are welcome at our table."

Holland and Amy welcome you to the table to learn about how stories and board games cross barriers and provide opportunities for advancing literacy all with an element of fun!
